Music by Thomas Schudel

 

Thomas Schudel is professor of music at the University of Regina in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. He studied composition at Ohio State University with Dr. Marshall Barnes where he received his B.Sc. and M.A. degrees. His D.M.A. was earned at the University of Michigan where he studied composition with Prof. Ross Lee Finney and Dr. Leslie Basset.

His Symphony No. 1 won first Prize in the City of Trieste's International Competition for Orchestral Composition in 1972 and was premiered there that year. Commissions have come from the Canada Council, Saskatchewan Arts Board, the Regina Symphony Orchestra, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the Saskatchewan Music Educators Association, the Saskatchewan Choral Federation, the Saskatchewan music Festival Association, the Saskatoon Saxophone Quartet, the University of Regina Chamber Singers, and the Regina Saxophone Quartet.

Many of his works are published in the United States and Canada. He is a member of the Canadian league of Composers, an associate composer of the Canadian Music Centre, and the performing rights organization, SOCAN.
